Reading Scroll-Depth Data
You spent the most effort on the part of the page most visitors never reach. Scroll-depth data is how you find out — and how you decide what to move.
What It Shows
How far people actually get
A scroll-depth chart answers one blunt question: of everyone who lands on a page, what percentage ever scrolls far enough to see each part of it? Near the top, that number is high — almost everyone sees the first screen. Further down, it falls, sometimes gently, sometimes off a cliff. The shape of that fall is the story.
The gap between what you assume people see and what they actually reach is usually wider than anyone expects. A page can feel complete to the person who built it and be, to most visitors, just the top third.
How to Read It
Find the cliff, then ask what's above it
Look for the point where the line drops sharply — the place a lot of visitors decide they're done. Then ask what's sitting right at that edge. A wall of text? A slow-loading section? A natural-looking "end" that makes people think the page is over when it isn't? The cliff isn't the problem; it's the marker pointing at the problem just above it.
And check what's below the cliff. If your strongest proof, your clearest call to action, or your best offer lives past the point most people stop scrolling, you don't have a weak offer — you have a placement problem. The fix is often just moving it up.
From Chart to Change
A list of things to test, not just a colored map
Scroll-depth data earns its keep the moment it turns into a decision. Combined with where people click, it becomes a short, specific list: move this call to action above the drop-off, tighten this long section people never finish, promote this buried testimonial. That's the real output — not a pretty chart, but a ranked set of small changes worth testing.

A service business can't understand why a page with a strong, specific offer barely converts. The copy is good. The offer is real. But the scroll-depth data shows two-thirds of visitors stop just above where that offer appears — a long intro section reads like the end of the page, so people leave before the best part ever loads into view.
